Kim became a Strive member in May 2017, EXACTLY A YEAR AGO! Prior to joining Strive, Kim tried a bunch of different gyms (small boutique – women’s only, personal trainer, at home workouts…you name it she probably tried it…

 

Kim really struggled to find something that she could stick to and be consistent with. She basically gave up and stopped putting the gym or exercising as a priority.

 

“I COULDN’T FIND SOMETHING THAT WASN’T A CHORE OR SOMETHING I DREADED DOING. “

 

Kim heard about Strive and thought she’d give it a try. After her first Strive sweat she was hooked. Kim got on a membership right away…She started out with a Basic membership, which provides 8 visits a month, was coming in 2-3 times a week and now, on the UNLIMITED membership, Kim stays consistent coming 4-5 times a week!

 

Those first few days Kim could barely make it through the full intervals but everything was scalable and the coaches and other members made her feel welcomed and encouraged!

 

Since joining Strive Kim has become faster, stronger, and more coordinated.

Kim’s Numbers:

Today, Kim has lost a total of 0.5lbs – counting & 9.5 inches (measured from chest, waist, hips, thigh, calf, bicep) – counting!

 

Biggest Accomplishments:

● RESET Mental Focus
● Increased Confidence
● Sticking with 4 days a week consistently
● Increased Speed and Agility in Conditioning Exercises (i.e.: Hurdle & Hex)

 

2018 Biggest Obstacle:

When I joined Strive I reset my mental focus. If it was only about the number on the scale I would have given up a long time ago. I didn’t want to starve myself on a crazy diet or go for the quick fix. I wanted to build a healthy active
lifestyle. It takes time and I’m ok with that!

 

Mastering:
● Using TWO Boss Chains at a time
● Improving my Push Ups
● Work towards lifting 25lb dumbbells

Lisa became a Strive member in Aug 2015. Lisa has been a member at Strive Life Athletics for 3 years but it was in November 2017 when she really started to focus on her fitness journey. Last November she tipped the scales at over 176 pounds and felt really bad about herself. It was clear that her body was going through a change and at age 42 (at the time) she was struggling with it. Lisa had been through 3 major agonizing bouts of sciatica.. each lasting about 3 months. The last one she thought she wasn’t going to recover from.

 

Lisa went to the doctor for her physical last November and knew her weight was the highest it had ever been. Lisa’s doctor’s comments were that she was “heavy but not ​yet​ obese”​. Lisa knew she had to make some changes and she started by focusing on the things she loves in life, one of which was Strive Life Athletics.

 

“THIS AUGUST WILL BE 3 YEARS SINCE JOINING STRIVE LIFE & IT HAS LITERALLY CHANGED MY LIFE!”

 

Strive Life Athletics has provided Lisa with a safe space to work out, push her limits & gain strength, all while surrounded by the most amazing and supportive friends .

 

Lisa has met so many amazing and inspirational people through Strive! With having sciatica, they helped her through it by showing her ways to modify exercises until she was strong enough to finally start doing them normally again. Some days are better than others, but we all have those days and Lisa is no longer letting them define her!

 

Lisa loves that Strive has not only helped her get stronger but it has also opened her life up to other fitness possibilities. Strive has made her a warrior who now loves running, intense workouts and biking!

 

On June 16th, 2018, Lisa ran the Lululemon Waterfront 10k – the first 10km race she has ever run! A couple of
weeks ago she also cycled in the Ride For Heart.. over 77km! To say she is proud of herself would be an
understatement.

 

Strive has taught Lisa that you can literally do anything if you put your mind to it.

She still has more to lose but Lisa is thrilled with her progress!

Melissa’s fitness journey began two years ago. She’d been overweight for her entire adult life – was lazy and addicted to food, which was the perfect combination for an extremely unhealthy lifestyle. She knew it was time to finally take care of herself, physically and mentally.

 

A friend introduced her to spinning and she grew to love how healthy she felt after each class.

 

“SPINNING BECAME A HABIT 4 TIMES PER WEEK. I LOVED IT! AFTER A YEAR AND A HALF, I REALIZED THAT I NEEDED TO DIVERSIFY AND BRING OTHER PROGRAMS INTO MY LIFE. ENTER… STRIVE LIFE ATHLETICS.”

 

Melissa became a member in March of 2018 and although she was already disciplined enough to prioritize exercise, she never saw herself as “fit” and never imagined she’d find such a supportive group of people that she would grow to call her friends.

 

In the 8 months since she started at Strive, Melissa’s life has completely changed. She completed Strive’s first ever LIFE CHANGING CHALLENGE, 6 months – 72 classes, and was able to keep a consistent routine throughout her first Spring/Summer as a member of the studio.

 

 

Before starting the Life Changing Challenge in April 2018,

Ashley became a Strive member in June 2016. Ashley has been a member at Strive Life Athletics for 2 + years but before Strive, athletics was a huge part of her life since she was in high school. Growing up in BC Ashley led a very active lifestyle including hockey, rowing, running, rugby, skiing and horseback riding…to name a few. Unfortunately that ended shortly after she moved to Toronto.

 

She aggravated a pre-existing disc injury in her back that left her bedridden for weeks. The severity of the injury convinced her she wouldn’t train at the level she was at before. As a result, food became her go to during that period and she lost a lot of her prior gains. Weight went up and her activity level went down.

 

“I NEEDED TO GET THE BALL ROLLING AGAIN. I WAS VERY CONCERNED FOR MY HEALTH AND STARTED MAKING SMALL CHANGES.”

 

In June 2016 Ashley decided to check out Strive and the following week she took part in an event hosted by Strive called, HIIT the SIX (which is back by popular demand September 22nd, 2018). From that point on she was hooked. The inner athlete reignited, all Ashley wanted to do was train and be around the infectious energy of the group.

 

In 2017, Ashley started making larger changes to her diet and conditioning program. She switched to a plant based diet . At the beginning of the process she was working out to get into shape, but now she works out because it’s her passion.

 

“I LOVE THE ENERGY EVERY TIME I STEP INTO THE STUDIO. SINCE JOINING STRIVE NOT ONLY HAVE I BECOME A STRONGER ATHLETE BUT I HAVE MET AN AMAZING GROUP OF FRIENDS WHO I LOVE SPENDING TIME WITH!”

 

Strive continues to be Ashley’s platform & be her starting base as she begins training for her next big fitness milestone, IRONMAN!

 

 

Ashley’s Numbers:

Today Ashley is down over 33 pounds & she has decreased her body fat from 28% to 20.1%. Also, Ashley
crushed her last VO2 max test off the charts (57!). – and she feels fantastic!

Rod became a Strive member in July 2015 when he made the decision to go out of his comfort zone and join this group of people, whom he saw every day on his dog walks, working out in Coronation Park. Rod thought they were way out of his “physical fitness” league.

 

“I WAS TRYING TO EMBRACE THE PHILOSOPHY OF, “…DO ONE THING THAT SCARES YOU EVERYDAY”, AND BELIEVE ME, THIS TERRIFIED ME.”

 

Rod had reached out to Strive via email to make sure this was something he could do and they made no hesitation that he was welcome.

 

Although Rod felt a little clumsy and uncoordinated after his first class he was energized. He admits he was tired and sore for a few days afterwards, and still wasn’t sure if he was capable of keeping up with this group.

 

The coaches were so encouraging and supportive, and the people he met that first time were inspiring and friendly that he knew he’d be back.

 

It wasn’t long before his coordination improved… thanks to the ladders! Rome wasn’t built in a day, and needless to say neither was he.

 

Rod constantly saw gains in his overall strength week after week and his conditioning got to the point where he even completed his first half marathon last fall; not bad for someone who couldn’t even run 5KM a few years ago.

 

In April of 2016 he took advantage of the Nutritional Program Strive introduced and over the next 6 months he saw a drop in almost 30lbs and shed over 16” off his body.

 

On the anniversary of his first year at Strive he received the “Strive Cup”. This was a turning point for him; not because of a trophy he won, but because he realized he had achieved more than just a physical transformation. It has been a complete transformation of body, mind, and spirit. The new found confidence has been life changing.

 

 

“JOINING STRIVE WAS ONE OF THE BEST DECISIONS I HAVE EVER MADE. IT IS A HUGE PART OF MY WEEKLY ROUTINE AND HAS BECOME MORE THAN JUST AN ATHLETIC TRAINING CENTRE…IT’S AN AMAZING COMMUNITY OF LIFE ATHLETES AND FRIENDS WHO CONTINUALLY MOTIVATE, INSPIRE AND PUSH ME TO BE A BETTER VERSION OF MYSELF.”

Today, Rod is down 32lbs since joining Strive (major chunk of the weight loss was during his time with Additional Nutritional)

 

Also, Rod has lost a TOTAL of 15 inches!
( both lbs and inches are net as he has put on muscle )

Rod still has a sweet tooth and likes his chocolate and ice cream but he reminds himself that the lifestyle changes he’s made are long term so he indulges once in a while but it’s the long term goal that counts. She wasn’t in a great place in her personal life, her self-love was at an all-time low, and Andrea was craving change. After her first class she was hooked and knew that this was the place that was going to help get her back to a healthy body and healthy mind.

 

Her STRIVE journey has taught her to be proud of her body…
Strive also introduced Andrea to Additional Nutritional​ which helped her with her diet and eating regimen.

Andrea’s Numbers:

Today, Andrea has lost a total of 12 pounds – counting​ & 15 inches​ (measured from chest, waist, hips, thigh, calf, bicep) – counting!

 

 

Biggest Accomplishments:

● Increased Confidence
● The Box Jump – Took a Year
● Progressed from Baby Chain to the Boss Chain
● Increased Speed and Agility in Conditioning Exercises (i.e.: Hurdle & Hex)

 

 

2018 Biggest Obstacle:

Mastering:
● Splitters
● Superbears
● Burpees
● Push Ups (can currently do 2 – Goal is to do 5 Full Range)
